Employment & Internship Positions
Summer Internship Opportunity
Interested in working with us? Please email lindsey@sosalliance.org for more information on available volunteer and internship opportunities.
Paid Summer Internship Program
The Save Our Springs Alliance (SOS) Extended Internship is an excellent opportunity to form a lasting professional relationship with a well-established environmental nonprofit. With a workload of 5-12 hours per week, the internship can fit alongside a summer job or class schedule. After an integrative training about the science and politics surrounding the Edwards Aquifer, interns will work 4-hour weekend shifts tabling at Barton Springs throughout the summer. While tabling, interns will educate citizens about the mission of SOS and the science behind the aquifer. Interns will also sell SOS merchandise and memberships and offer newsletter enrollment. Interns will be asked to assist with occasional fundraising and community outreach events in the fall. Interns start at $16-$18 per hour, with potential for raises. There will be occasional opportunities for office work. Applicants must be comfortable in the heat, although free entry into Barton Springs Pool will be included on shifts. We are particularly looking for “self-starter” candidates, requiring little management and bringing their own ideas to make tabling and fundraising more effective. The SOS internship is a great opportunity to network, learn about careers in environmental policy or science, and gain valuable experience with a credible environmental organization.
To apply, please email lindsey@sosalliance.org by 8 am on Tuesday, April 30th with a resume and a 1-page statement of purpose. A big part of this internship is communicating ideas, so this is a chance to demonstrate that skill. You may wish to discuss why you are interested in SOS or passionate about our mission, what you realistically feel you could bring to the internship, or other information about you that is not on your resume. We hope to see you this summer!
